The Compass Health Consultancy is delighted to announce its partnership with the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) to introduce Periop 101: A Core Curriculum™ and Prep for CNOR in the MEA region for the first time.

The largest association of perioperative nurses in the world, AORN defines, supports, and advocates for patient and staff safety through exemplary practice in all phases of perioperative nursing care using evidence-based guidelines, continuing education, and clinical practice resources. The Compass Health Consultancy trains, coaches, and provides consultation services to healthcare professionals and organizations across the Middle East and Africa (MEA), with a specialty in surgical services. This partnership will add AORN evidence-based educational resources to the Compass library of resources for its healthcare customers.

With this partnership, healthcare providers in MEA will have access through Compass to the premier, standardized education program in the United States for RNs entering and working in the perioperative specialty . The Periop 101 program is developed and continually updated to reflect the latest evidence-based AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice and includes graduate-level QSEN (Quality and Safety Education for Nurses) competencies. Surgical facilities that use Periop 101 report quality improvement, reduced training time for staff and educators, and stronger recruitment and retention.

Facilities can also support their perioperative nurses’ advancement toward earning specialty credentials by providing Prep for CNOR (Certified Nurse, Operating Room), an online course that fully prepares nurses for the certification exam.

Speaking of the new partnership, AORN Executive Director, Linda Groah, MSN, RN, CNOR, NEA-BC, FAAN, said “It is the mission of AORN to support safe surgical patient care in every facility and we are delighted that Compass will be able to deliver these products in an area of the world that previously had limited access to internationally recognized standards of care.”

“Our ultimate goal is to empower surgical care team and associations through knowledge transfer and coaching to increase culture of safety and quality in perioperative care,” said Founder and CEO of The Compass Health Consultancy, Caroline Bilen RN, BSN. “To increase productivity and ensure every patient has a safe procedure, we are excited to work with AORN to exclusively provide accredited world-class training programs for perioperative nurses in the MEA region.”

The Compass’s first certificate program in perioperative nursing, which is based on Periop 101, will begin on October 1 for 8 weeks at Gulf Medical University in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. The other MEA countries will follow.
