Course Outline:

The workshop covers 7 elements organized into specific discussions around:

• Element 1: Responsibility to adhere to scientifically accepted principles and practices of infection control and to monitor the performance of those for whom the professional is responsible.
• Element 2: Modes and mechanisms of transmission of pathogenic organisms in the healthcare setting and strategies for prevention and control.
• Element 3: Use of engineering and work practice controls to reduce the risk of patient and healthcare worker exposure to COVID 19 and contact with potentially infectious material in all healthcare settings for bloodborne pathogens.
• Element 4: Selection and use of barriers and personal protective equipment to prevent patient and healthcare worker contact with potentially infectious material.
• Element 5: Creation and maintenance of a safe environment for patient care in all healthcare settings through the application of infection control principles and practices for cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
• Element 6: Prevention and management of infectious or communicable diseases in healthcare workers.
• Element 7: Sepsis Awareness.
